you know ... that snails, spiders bees, beetles worms and their

Interested
in alternative power sources?
Local
man Paul Noyce from Alexandra Road, Parkstone has taken the
power situation into his own hands by installing his own solar
panels. Now if there is a power cut, his living room will be the
only place there is light in the whole neighbourhood.
He is
now planning to become even more independent from the national
grid by installing a small wind turbine.
Paul
has a website where his 'Urban Solar Energy' page tells you
(probably) everything you need to know about it!

Dorset
Countryside Volunteers (DCV) is a practical conservation group run
by volunteers. We were set up in 1972 by people who wanted to do
practical work in the Dorset countryside which would not otherwise
be done.
We
continue today with that aim. Our volunteers are male and female,
from all age groups, all walks of life and from all over the
county. Our work is wide and varied according to the season, for
example woodland work such as hedgelaying and coppicing in Winter;
and dry stone walling, clearing ponds and footpath work in Summer.

A
large number of our water mains are more than 50 years old and
therefore are more susceptible to leaks.
To
help Wessex Water meet their leakage target, they offer to
repair or replace a domestic customer's leaking service pipe
free of charge up to the outside wall of their property,
provided it does not pass under any structure.
Help
Wessex Water tackle leakage. If you spot a leak, ring their free
Leakstoppers line on 0800 692 0692. |
