The
new Bourne Valley Greenway was launched with a family fun day
organised by Greenlink and the partnership, with the help of the
two local authorities and Friends of Coy Pond. The sun shone
- a miracle after a week of dull, wet weather! We set up the
event caravan at Exeter Crescent, alongside Bournemouth's Lower
Gardens, and had a good gathering of people ready to take off
along the route by 10.00 a.m.
Bournemouth's
Deputy Mayor & Mayoress, Cllr. and Mrs. David Baldwin, arrived
to launch the Greenway, and led a stroll through the gardens to
Coy Pond.

Our
competition was won by Roger Yates from Bournemouth, now
the proud owner of a new Raleigh Mountain Bike.
In
the Upper Gardens Bournemouth's community parks officer treated
passers-by to a bird box making demonstration, and Bournemouth
Environment Forum concentrated on composting.
The
Friends of Coy Pond spent the morning slaving over a hot spit and at
lunch time, while a live band played jazz and swing, more than 320
visitors enjoyed hog roast and cider. |
