Poole Agenda 21

All local communities have been asked by Government to develop a LOCAL AGENDA 21 in partnership with their local authority.  This places great emphasis on the involvement of the whole community - business and public alike.

Join Poole's Agenda 21 and have your say in building a sustainable future in Poole.

We need to take action if we are not to diminish the life we enjoy.

Agenda 21 gives us this opportunity.

What is Agenda 21?

Poole Agenda 21

Agenda 21 was "born" through our increasing knowledge about the damage we are doing to the environment in polluting air, land and water.  Damage to the atmosphere and ecological systems has led to worldwide agreement that we must change the way we live.

This led to the Rio Earth Summit in 1992, where world leaders agreed that if the earth was to be able to sustain life for future generations an entirely new approach to our way of living was needed.

This approach become known as "Sustainable Development" - and means that we must all consider the effect of the decisions we make on the global and local environments.

This global decision for the 21st Century is known as Agenda 21.

A nucleus of local citizens has begun to work in groups on the following:

Transport

Waste

Health & Social Care

Environment

Energy

Information

They would welcome your involvement
