Reinstatement of Scott Road pond

21 August 2003

With thanks to Borough of Poole Countryside Section, English Nature Dorset team

AlaskA Environmental Contracting, Wareham

and all the residents and young people that have been involved

AlaskA Environmental clear the pond of reeds and sediment (below).  The first sight of pond water at Scott Road for a couple of years.

(Below) Cleared reeds were moved to a clearing in the trees nearby, and left to rot.

Val Rowling, local resident, gets stuck in (above) while some prefer to watch ...

... and others (below) take advantage of the mud!  And with good reason; well armed with buckets these lads were helping to catch the fish (rud and tench) that were heading off downstream via the weir, disturbed by the works.

A new bench (to replace the one that was vandalised) followed within a few days.
